For us, as International Mountain Leaders, they are not just places of personal connection but also our professional workspace, where we guide others to experience their unparalleled beauty. However, mountains are increasingly under threat. Climate change, overexploitation, and pollution are putting these fragile ecosystems—and our livelihoods—at risk. Recognizing our responsibility, UIMLA has taken action:
- We joined the UN Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, committing to reducing our carbon footprint.
- Through the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative (GTPI), we pledged to minimize and recycle plastic usage in mountain environments.
- But it’s not just about plastic—waste in all forms poses a significant threat to the mountains. Join us for a special webinar to discuss waste in the mountains and explore practical solutions for preserving these precious environments.
